FOR WHAT I'VE DONE
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I’m forgiving what i’ve done

He awoke to the sound of silence, a sound he was not used to. Usually it had been the buzzing of an alarm or the chirping of the birds that woken him. He had learned to ignore the sound of the traffic rushing by on the New York street below him, so that no longer posed a threat. It took him a couple of minutes to realize however that he was no longer in his lovely new York apartment, over looking the river. Instead he was here in Alaska in some kind of dump. He sighed as he sat up, and pushed the remaining covers off his body. He was dressed in only a pair of boxer shorts. He quickly got up, his feet hitting the wooden floor. Walking to his closet he pulled out the outfit he would wear for today.
He moved quietly toward the tiny bathroom, as though not to wake Kyo. He figured she probably already heard him rustle around in his room, and hoped she would think nothing of it and fall back asleep. He started the water and pushed it toward the warmer side out of habit. Although he wouldn't be discomforted by taking a cold shower. His body ran at a toasty 110 degrees all the time. It was the reason he never got sick. He hopped in the shower. Fifteen minutes later he was done with his shower and he threw on his clothes. He opened the bathroom door, and check on Kyo quickly. Although she was old enough to take care of herself, he still worried about her. She was all he had left. At first he like everybody else blamed her for their mother's death. Yet when the night came and she began to cry he had softened up and understood that it wasn't her fault. He had taken care of her since then. He heard his cell phone ring from his bed even though it was on the lowest it could go. He moved swiftly through the apartment and look at the caller id. It was a number he knew very well, and the number he was afraid of. He flipped open the phone and paused collecting his words before speaking. "Hello?" Vocals asked cool and calm, it was only inside that he was shaking. Then it dawned on him that they could be tracking him. He threw the phone against the wall smashing it into pieces which he just stared at.
That number was the reason they had been forced to move here. For years Lucas had been working as an assassin for an underground company. It kept him and Kyo alive and therefore he didn't think much of it. Until he met the child who changed his views. A young girl about Kyo's age, pretty blond hair and light blue eyes. He was supposed to kill her, her mother and father. The girls parents were no problem however when he came to kill the girl, he kept imagining Kyo's face. This kept him from completing his task, and they were forced to flee. The company of course found out about this and sent people after them. They choose Alaska to settle in because it was so far away from everything, and it was a new beginning. He was however mad, that they had to live in such a shit hole. Although he could currently afford the nicer apartments, due to his career. He didn't know how long they would be here, and how long it would be before he found work again and therefore he choose the cheaper of the apartments. It was after all a roof over their head.
