FEAR IS ONLY IN OUR MINDS
Taking over all the time
Fear is only in our minds,
But its taking over all the time
You poor, sweet, innocent thing
Dry your eyes and testify
And oh, you love to hate me don't you, honey?

The sky had lightened up quite a bit from it usual permanent darkened state. However there was still no sign of the bright ball of light that was often absent in this rough land. The girl moved swiftly through the meadow at a light jog. She had been running most of the morning just to get away and had ended up here. The meadow was beautiful, snow covered all of the flowers and the tips of the trees. It was quiet and peaceful, somewhere she could relax and think. She padded her way to an old bench. Her knee high converse shoes leaving a soft imprint in the fresh snow. Her reddish brown hair was streaked with the falling flakes, as was the parka and jeans she was wearing.
Not that she needed such heavy clothing, it was mostly for appearance. In case any humans still lived in town and saw her. She didn't want to mess this up for her & her brother. They had already moved so many times, all she wanted was a place to stay and call her own. Even if it was a crappy old apartment, it was theirs and they would make due. She pulled her thoughts from the apartment, it depressed the hell out of her. There was no point in lying to herself. Yet she always put on a brave face and smile for Lucas. Perhaps it was because she needed to be positive because he wasn't. She felt immense loyalty toward her brother, he was the only one who had ever cared about her. He had raised her when nobody else cared if she lived or died. He dropped out of school and got messed up in the wrong crowd because of her. Everything was all her fault. If she hadn't been born then her mother wouldn't have died, and Lucas' life wouldn't be all messed up.
Her stomach growled and she wished she would have ate breakfast before she left the house. It wasn't that she hated hunting, she enjoyed it actually. But not on an empty stomach, she moved slower and often caught less. She considered going home to eat, but she didn't want to go back to that crappy apartment she called home. She had understood Lucas' reasons for picking that one over the other. There money was limited and besides they needed to keep a low profile. Still though she wasn't going to lie to herself, the place depressed the hell out of her. She preferred being out her where they sky was pretty much the limit. A bunny scurried by and she licked her lips. Shifting into her wolf form she stalked it carefully until she was close enough. The bunny let out one cry then struggled limp in her powerful jaws. She tore into the flesh, blood splattering on her black fur. She stopped as she heard footsteps approaching. She picked up her kill and trotted several feet away. A warning snarl bearing pearly whites let out for those to foolish to get to close. She continued to eat, her auds perked and cautious.
